Sight info for the 357 barrels.

I bought a new 357 mag a while back and decided to put open sights on it. I've got the standard 22" barrel not the Talo barrel. I planned on using the WGRS rear sight so I did a little figuring to get the proper front sight height. I ended up buying a front sight from ebay that measures .690 high. My gunsmith said the height is a perfect match for the WGRS rear sight and the 357's barrel contour.
I just thought I'd pass this along incase any of you are wanting to put sights on your 357 barrels.
I'm going to the shop tomorrow morning to pick the rifle up and I'll post some pics.

I just got mine back from Ilion a couple week or two ago.  Its a 22 inch 357 also.  I was going to go with iron sights on this rifle but ended up buying a Bushnell TRS25 red dot.  It's nice and small and looks pretty good on the rifle.  I have had red dots in the past and did not like them.  This Bushy was like 99.00 at cabelas on sale.  Its a 3 MOA and a tight dot.  I think it will be a fun plinker sighted in at 50 or 75 yards.

Spanky, I eagerly await your real world range report on that sight height. FWIW, depending on if you are looking for a 50yd or 100yd -0- the index lines on the rear should be about in the lower end of the range sighted in at 50 and near the middle for 100; this will give you a range of adj. up for when you really want to reach on out there.
