Mini-Palma?
« on: February 16, 2011, 04:25:13 PM »
Hello, I was wondering if someone could tell me why the NRA dropped the Mini-Palma match?  This looked to be a fun and challenging match for iron sights!  It was also a very historical one..going back to the long-range international matches of the 1870's at Creedmoor.  The high-power Palma is still being shot...Why not the small-bore?  What about a postal type match?  Thanks guys.

Small bore at 200yds is a tough game.  The 50 and 100yd Dewer Match is difficult enough.  My club hosts a 200yd small bore prone match once or twice a year after one of the highpower matches.  Shooting at the SR-1 target on a windy day with 22lr can be a tough as 1000yd highpower rifle.  I have a Kimber 82G rifle that shoots very well.  The problem we have is our range is faced to the south.  When the sun is behind the target it is very hard to see the bullet holes.  You will need a very good 80mm spotting scope.
