SCOTUS rules for Westboro
« on: March 02, 2011, 07:10:35 AM »
Snyder v. Phelps et al.

While I can't find a suitably malodorous epithet for the Westboro cult, I have to applaud the Court for the ruling.  Any peaceful, or at least non-violent, protest MUST be protected, no matter how repugnant the group or message.  Unless all are protected, none are.

I do wish there were some way to silence those bigoted, small minded, hate-filled thugs.
Your ob't & etc,
Joseph Lovell

Justice Robert H. Jackson - It is not the function of the government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error.

What goes around, comes around.

As much as I disagree with the folks from westboro church, I have to applaud scotus for upholding the constitution.

After giving more thought  to this, isn't a cemetary private property? And does the ruling extend to private property? Seems to me that the cemetary owners could have the protesters charged with trespass.
