Again I don't see a diff. if you throw a 125, 158 or 180 grain bullet so fast out of a 357 mag
and we now throw 135, 155 / 165 or 180 grains the same speeds or a litttle faster out of an auto what really is the diff between a .38 and a .40?  Bullet weights are similar and the will differ as the diameter increases.
Shoot all I think they make what you want, almost.. you just need to load lighter bullets to the speeds of the 357 mag.
good luck with the project.  but I think you are making 6.5X55 when 7X57 is already out there.  Both are basically throwing the same weight bullets the same speeds.

Yes , A new round with new specs. not a redo . A new gun with new round .
I get it. I have been thinking about this from the day you posted it. You want to take today's technology to make every thing from the case up to the gun from the ground up. A .38 or .382 bullet not a .357 or a .40. This way you can make the case take what ever pressure you wish. And the bullet can be pure, made to do just what you want it to do. By the way what do you want it to do...kill deer, people, .....punch thru vest.........or what?

Ok I think the case should be semi-rimmed so when you can start making them you can start in a T/C or even a revolver (what do you think about a bottle neck case? It feeds better in an auto).
Bullets can be made by hand easy enough. It's the case that I have not worked out how to get made.

After that you could start on a firearm.

Is this any help? Or am I not on the right track? Or do you just want to drop it all together?

First a defense load , for man or beast but I don't see it as a brown bear stopper . As for a rim I would shy away from a simi rim , a 45 aoto rim/federal 9mm type case could come later. In a revolver a moon clip arrangement would be a good way to go.
Hunting could be an application also , much like a 10mm has become to some. It would never be a 44 mag. It might be a 357 max. or at least be getting close.
I see it as a all around carry gun . It would be nice in a Glock like platform , as advantage could be used in the frame/grip to hold more rounds . That is one of the qualities more rounds of a useful round. I would like to see at least 16 rounds on board in the full sized gun and as the gun becomes compact still hold a good amount of fire power.
At the same time a shorter case could be developed to allow for a smaller gun also in the same cal.
As for taking out vest and armor maybe the military or speical police units would have a need for such but for personal self defense and hunting med size game it isn't on my wish list. As citizens are responsible for all rounds fired and I don't want ammo that can go thru. several homes .
I want a firearms maker to pick up the idea and run with it . But they may resist as it could hurt sales of other products and ammo if in fact it is a good seller. But say a Glock , highpoint or other co. wanted to capture more market it might be just the product. If say Browning or CZ put it on the market ? Or if S&W did maybe it would be king once more .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !
