I'm gone for a while (I think)

Too many here now who think contributing means yelling "sore looser"  and "slavery!" And then dismissing as "revisionist" anything, including period references, that hints that St. Abe waged his war for any reason but to end slavery.

If I run across decent references I'll pop in to post them, but I won't stick around to debate as the usual suspects distort them out of shape.

The war was fought to save the Union.  It wasn't his war.  The South would have it no other way.  They were very eager for a fight.
