The 204 Ruger is also a fine round for shooting prairie dogs. Since getting the 204 I dont take out my 223 Rem rjfles very much.

Definately a great choice and the funnest rifle of mine to shoot for accuracy. I have a couple AR's that are a little more fun to shoot, just to shoot... Mine is in an Encore platform, but wouldn't mind a nice bolt gun.  Absolute tack driver out beyond 300 yds, and mine has killed dozens of coyotes out to that range and it smokes em.  Little to no recoil and cheap to reload although, not as cheap as a 223 because of brass availability.  My kids shot it yesterday including my 4 year old daughter...

Recoil from the 204 is so mild you can see your hits in the scope.

If you aren't eating the rabbits they are great. I own three of them and a 20 Tactical. Definitely a fun gun to shoot and with handloads unreal for accuracy. I have two CZ 527's and a 700 SPS.
