Well, my son bought his oldest boy a Fender Squire to learn to play guitar. Next, my son decided he wanted to learn to play too. He ran accross a great deal on an Epiphone Les Paul Standard that has a lot of custom work done to it. Plays and sounds awesome. I've got an acoustic I've had since I was 14 and decided that hey, I want an electric too! Being on a budget I had to really shop around and boy did I get lucky. I found a Les Paul Gold Top clone that is in mint condition. An elderly gentleman bought it at a charity auction. Never played it and sold it to me for $100, a fraction of the original cost. I read several reviews on it before buying it and even guys with Gibson Les Pauls say this is an outstanding guitar. Mines the Johnson Solara Gold Top Classic. It even has the same pickups as the Gibson Les Paul. Anyways, having a blast teaching my son and grandson and playing together. How cool is that?

Way to go, Spirithawk! My inspiration was Mr. Edward Van Halen. I had the honor years ago to be his security escort. Very nice man and an imazing guitar player. If you ever get the chance to pick up one of his Ernie Ball Music Man guitars..... They have the best sound on the planet.

Thanks.
I'm a big Mark Knopfler fan. I love to hear him play.

Don't have the talent. Have tried a few times to play but apparently, its all I can do to play a radio.

i bought my first guitar about 6 months ago. with the help of youtube, i am learning. i picked up an esp ec1000 and the guy i bought it from threw in a vox amp.
the guy that lives upstairs is an incredible guitarist, and if he makes a few key changes, he will most likely be someone that alot of people know in the future. i have never heard anyone play like this guy does. anyhow, he is giving lessons to my boys, and he is every bit as good a teacher as he is a guitarist. my boys are learning at a phenomial pace.

I started to play when sidelined with a medical condition 25 years ago. Brings a lot of pleasure and relaxation. Enjoy!!!!

Great job getting the family into music! I plan to have a family jam session with my daughters pretty soon. I play bass guitar, my 15 year old plays clarinet and my 12 year old plays drums.

Very cool. I've always like Les Pauls.
I gave my Gold Top a bit of a facelift. I added a Les Paul Rythm - Tremolo ring around the selector switch. Might not seem like much but just look at the differance it made in the apearance! It looked naked without it. It's in shop right now being professionaly set up for me. I can hardly wait to get it back.
Before ring;
After ring;
