Loading Shotgun With Choke Tubes
« on: April 19, 2011, 12:21:40 PM »
I am looking for ideas for loading my Cabela's (Pedersoli) 12 guage SXS that has extra full choke tubes. I have been loading before inserting the tubes, both cardboard wads, and plastic shotcups. as they wont fit past the chokes. However, in the field this is really not practical. Any ideas, on how this can be done ?

I have a t/c new englander. To reload I have to pull the tube. I have the tube that extends past the end of the barrel so I can spin it out easily

I use a Winchoke tube in cylinder bore for loading, then switch it to an extended turkey choke tube made by Hastings.  I figure I'll only get one shot at a turkey anyway.   It's a little time consuming, but it shoots a very nice pattern.  With a double barrel, you would get two shots.  (I've got a firm grasp of the obvious, huh!)  I have a T/C New Englander.

I don't like loading without the choke tube in because it might gum up or damage the threads in the barrel.

Removing the choke tube is the only way to load your gun.. With the choke tube installed,,the cardsand wads are too big to pass through the choke tube.. You wont gum up the barrel threads, and how many shots are you going to get in the field????????
