T/C .375 JDJ barrels
« on: March 03, 2011, 11:55:15 AM »
Numrich Gun Parts Corp.  has 23" and 14" .375 JDJ barrels.  Also quite a few other chamberings.  I just purchased a 23" one to meet the MS requirement of at least .35 caliber to allow me to use my Contender during the primitive weapon season. just thought some of you might be interested...

Yep - now considered primitive under the MS game laws.   They have continually modified what they deem "primitive" firearms with the changing times to allow even more opportunities for their sportsman who wish to utilize the primitive seasons.    The NEF firearms blazed the way for modern metallics being allowed in single barrel/swap barrel hammer guns, which opened the door for Contender, G2 and Encore using any cartridge over 38 caliober at first but now 35 caliber, including bottle neck and not just straight wall cases.   And they allow them to be scoped.    Not primitive in the sense any of us old traditional muzzy and archery hunters see primitive by any means, even less so than modern in-lines, but they all are legal in MS now.
FWIW
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

yes sir all that Larry said.. a youth can use any centerfire during the "Primitive Weapon" season..We have more deer than rabbits around here now.  First season starts in September and goes through the last of February.  I have friends who kill 6 or 7 deer a year,legally.. I just don't need that much meat.  I don't know what the legal limit would be for all legal deer taken thru every season would be.

Hmmm... why not just change the season instead of calling a modern firearm "primitive"? If the deer still continue to thrive will we be calling a black rifle primitive?

Anyhow thanks for the Numrich tip. I did go over there and look.

At first the law stated that the firearm had to be an original or copy of a design from around 1900...that evolved into the current law that states any single shot, .35 calilber or larger, with exposed hammer is okay.  Made alot of Contender and Encore owners happy.

I suppose if the prophesy at Isaiah 5:20 is to be fulfilled throughout the earth it might as well extend to hunting regs  ;)
