Which is better for 358 Win Rechamber?
« on: July 24, 2011, 07:08:22 PM »
.357 Mag or .35 Rem barrels? Is the .35 Rem even doable? I would think that a rim counter bore can be cut, right?

I'm hoping to find the twist rate of the new 35 Rem barrels are slower than the .357 Mag barrels, 1:15 1/2" That would give me a better chance of stabilizing heavier bullets.

You want a faster twist to stabilize bigger bullets, not slower, I shoot 250gr spitzers just fine in my RMEF Ultra Whelen with 1:16" twist....at 100yds anyway, never shot em farther, but they're very accurate.

As always, you're right. I don't see much of a difference in the two barrels now that I know the 35 Rem twist rate is 1:16". I may just go with the .357 MAG and have more chamber to clean-up. Besides, I can't get a factory 35 Rem barrel that's 18 3/4" long. ;)
