It doesn't look quite right on this carriage.   I wonder what it would have looked like before they trimmed the barrel back?

Assuming it was on a similar carriage, it doesn't seem reasonable that it could have been used as a mortar.  Howitzer, maybe, but not a mortar.

I think the original gun was mounted on a barbette carrige.

That's what I was thinking.  It would make sense if it was mounted over the river.
