Finished my .204 Ruger pistol ;)
« on: March 20, 2011, 01:03:27 PM »
Finished building out my .204 Ruger pistol.  Got a Thompson Encore SS frame from eabco.com, along with their 2.5lbs trigger job and a Pachmayr grip.  Ordered a 20" full bull stainless .204 Ruger barrel from MGM, with rifle spaced threads.  They put in a 6 hole scope base, and I loaded it up with stainless low rings and a Weaver Classic 2.5-8X scope.  Got a custom black laminate forgrip from Tony at http://www.tonysforendsandgrips.net/index.html along with a Harris BRM1A2 Bipod!

I have already sighted the gun in without the bipod and foregrip and got a .75" 5rd group at 100 yards (underground tunnel) using 32gr Hornady V-Max factory ammo.  I'll head down to Ft Dix soon and get some outdoor shots and see what it can do!

Hmm... what barrel to get next?  .357 Max?

Nice looking Encore .204.  Are you going to do any hunting with it?

I'll need to go to PA to hunt with it, which I intend on doing this fall season.

The scope is nice, but I may change it out for a higher powered rifle scope and reuse it for something with a little more thump (.357 max maybe).  I'm gonna shoot more with it tho before I decide.  The relief is adequate for high powered stuff.  The .204 just doesn't kick at all with all this weight so I feel very safe putting my eye 3" away from it.

I just got a .204 14" and need to move my Burris 3X12 pistol scope onto it and get it on a frame. The frame currently has a .204 23" carbine set up on it with a 4X12 Mueller tactical that I like a lot.

Beautiful piece.  Please give us a range report after you get a chance for some long shots.
