This is the results of my first check from one of my ranches...at least it paid for the gas.

The poor grey broke his leg in the chain in spite of 3 swivels plus the stake swivel.  :(  I swear the dang things jump up and down on the pans to make them fire...3# pan tension.

The Badger made me a nice dirt hole. :-D  :-D

Well RdFx;  we have to give the devil his due this time.  Looks like he paid for more than his gas with that kittie. Looks like a pretty hefty cat!

WQ;  You still got a little left in ya,  :-) .  Those greys are bad about that!  The smaller the trap the better on them, but when working areas with all those canine present, we just have to put up with it.   In my area, a BIG BIG coyote will weigh about 35 lb.  I have gone to using smaller traps because of the large percentage of greys.
Bet you liked seeing that cat. :grin:

Gosh Wacky i didnt know there were that many blind furbearers in yr area!!!!!!!!!! :)   :)   :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.  Now you will have to call Joe to learn how to skin them :roll: .    Too bad about the grey but  with the yotes  around you have to have some good steel..  Now that you have yr feet wet  whoops i mean dry  and you stepped outside of yr trapping truck the fur will come easier LOL :wink: .  Post more pics when you can and have a safe one out there.

Also are the badgers as nasty as I have heard?

Well, WQ;
  After I made my reply on this, I went and checked what few traps I had left out and wasn't to disappointed with this one.   This big tom weighed in at 32 lb.

I will try to respond to the posts in order of their significance  :roll:

The cat is a bobcat.

I shoot them in the lungs ...most often.

Yes Badgers are nasty.

The fox was on the bottum of the pile.

That poor fox was caught in a #3 Bridger fully modified.  If not for the chain it would have been fine.

The cat was also caught in a #3 Bridger...by ONE toe!  Just another reason to use drags if you can.  Oh yeh all our traps are off set.

Joe you need a new scale!  As well spotted as that cat is its just too dang bad it doesn't have any fur :-D

Hey Doc;
  I'll have you know my scales are accurate.  I use cotton scales and only have 50lb increments and it was on the 1st one so I know it must have weighed within 10 or 15 pounds of what I stated. :eek:

  Dang if you ain't right on the fur statement though.  I sure wish our cats had your quality fur.  A lot of our cats will fall in the "Texas" color cats with lots of good spots but just short on fur compared to yours.   Why don't you buy my cats at a couple of c-notes each and mix with yours. :roll:

Thats a good idea Joe, why WQ would show the CHRISTmas spirit in buying yr cats and then selling them and sending you anything he would make over what he paid you in the interest of learning  how to grade furs... Man what an idea.  Pssst ....Joe do you think WQ would buy any silver grinners for mink????? :lol:

I don't know about the grinners Lee, I think he might be more inclined to think they were small Northern silky badgers. :roll:

As far as him buying fur like you suggest, I think that is a great idea!  He could just advance us 80% of what he knows he will get  using his cats as a grade and we won't even worry about the rest, but will hold his feet to the fire on it anyhow. 8)
