I'm in the market for a new light weight external frame back pack. Must be waterproof and capable of carrying supplies for 6 day back country hike hunt. Any recommendations are appreciated.

wow a month and no answers! I'll try. I don't know what's on the market these days. In 1977 I bought a Camp Trails full frame and pack. I think the pack was called the Timber Wolf. Its been going strong ever since. I don't back pack a lot but it goes with me nearly every hunting trip. I've packed a lot of meat in it and like it fine. Have done a few back pack trips too and I like it. I liked the Camp Trails frame over the Kelty 'cause the V bar support for the upper ends of the pack frame left room for my head. I didn't bang my head on support bars like I did with a borrowed Kelty. Hope this helps. Seems like internal frames are way more popular now.
Check out Cabela's offerings. They have a frame that looks a lot like mine but there are slight differences. Mine has clevis pins holding the hip belt on. I added a second back band below the one that puts the load on the center / upper back.

Check out their Alaskan Outfitter frame too - but I'd be concerned about the bar behind my head. Sounds like the Outfitter might carry real heavy loads a little better.

Military Surplus MOLLE II System. Lots of room by default and you can add your own bags/packs. Deals can be found brand new on ebay. I have one, like it so far ( other than the desert camo but rain flys exist in other colors )
