Tikka T3 Lite range report
« on: May 13, 2011, 06:17:06 AM »
Here are some pictures of targets from my new Tikka T3 Lite 308 with Zeiss 3x9x40 Conquest with DNZ Low Mounts.

The GMM were by far the most accurate.  Trying to find a hunting bullet that shoots like they do.  Only one box of shells thru this one so far.
I think I'll keep this one!

Yeah, I think it's a keeper.    ;D

I just wonder if people realize how much money you'd have had to spend 30 years ago to get that kind of OOB accuracy.  I love the comments from a few of the die-hard Rem guys on the board about the Tikka's bad design.  Yeah, gimme more of that bad design, then.   ::)

As far as which load, I think you need to shoot a few more groups.  That first one with the Federals looks good, but it looks to be only 3 shots where the others are 5.

The third group looks VERY, very good, 4 shots touching makes me suspect that the 5th shot was just shooter error.   Just a hunch, but was that the final shot of the group?   A couple of your targerts have 1-out flyers and it makes me wonder if the recoil isn't giving you the yipps by the last shot of the group and causing you to jerk the trigger?

Anyway, let's look at it this way.  That Tikka is going to be a serious, serious threat to ruin the day of any deer who makes the mistake of getting within range.

grouse Thanks for your comments, you are right i do need to work on my marksmanship skills. I am still amazed  at the guns ability to group so well OOB. With a better shooter and quality handloads I think this gun is capable of consistant sub .40 inch groups! Savage and Remington who??  LOL.

Pfft if it was a Remington it woulda shot through the same hole (or maybe it missed the whole target ;)).

Looks like the routinely boring accuracy a person could expect from a Tikka. Mine is as happy with Core Lock as anything, 180 gr outta a 300mag.

I do envy that scope though, is it all that, and a bag of chips? I have a 3x9x50 Vari-XII I would like to replace with that Zeiss. The budget is close with college age girls though.

Nice groups from a fantastic gun. I have one too. I love it & everyone that has shot it is amazed. So far I've shot it about 30 times & it's not too picky with ammo. I can buy cheap Remington 150's at just about any place that sells ammo & my Tikka likes em.

I'm glad I bought mine & am sure you be happy with yours too.

Yeah, my son has a Tikka T3 in 270 win. I'm always amazed at how accurate that rifle shoots. It is by far the most accurate rifle I've ever shot.

Enjoy it, KP

I have been very pleased with a 30-06 that I got( T3 hunter).  It is my second tikka after a 223 T3 lite.  One of the other amazing things is just how easy it is to develope good loads in.  everything seems to shoot good but obviously there are some optimum loads that are just surprisingly accurate.   I am getting ready to do a load series on 168 gr match bullets and include some chronograph results.  Should be interesting.
