INDIANA TURKEY HUNTERS

Have you heard any gobbles yet?  My friend heard one March 13th in the afternoon (Dearborn County).  I thnk once the warm weather hits, they will be gobbling.  Let's hear about your turkey scouting/hunting as the season goes on.

Have new changes been made to the bag limit this year? I think you can take a gobbler in the Spring and one in the Fall also.

I heard a couple Sunday while out shed hunting. I hunt in Dearborn/Ohio county also. I'm taking my bow turkey hunting this year.  ;D

They must have high-paid lawyers write this stuff. It seems somewhat unclear to me.

Seasons and Bag Limits


Spring - The 2011 spring season will be April 27-May 15. The bag limit is one bearded or male turkey for the spring season. Spring turkey hunting is allowed statewide.

Fall - The bag and possession limit for the fall season is one bird of either sex per hunter irrespective of what type of legal equipment used (i.e., bow or shotgun) and requires a separate fall turkey license. The spring turkey hunting license does not carry over to the fall turkey season. Fall archery season is statewide. Fall firearm season has specific dates for specific counties.

What's your interpretation?

I can't find anything that says only 1 bird for both seasons.

Yes.  One in spring and one in fall.
I don't think a lot of guys even go out turkey hunting in the fall.  Sometimes they go by your treestand in the fall.
