What would cause this? I ordered a bullberry barrel for my encore last spring well I got it five months later. When I got it to the range and found a round that it liked and it started shooting less then a half inch group at a houndred yards I was on top of the world. Well, three days before my rifle season opened for deer I took her back to the range just to confirm everything and to my horror it wouldn't shoot a group for anything. So. all you exsperts out there in Encore land tell me whats going on here? Thanks, and Merry Christmas!!!

The possibilities are numerous. I'd first check to see if the scope mount is loose. You didn't mention how much time elapsed between your first and second shooting session. Was there much change in climate between the two?

I would defintely look from base upwards to scope for this one. Usually either the scope giving up on you or something loose in the mounting of it is the solution. Still it can be lots of things. Start there tho.

The barrel would not change unless you - some how - GOD forbid - did something to the crown. Check it. Other wise as posed I would suspect the scope - scope mount. Barrel just do not change over time......

Yep, start with the mounts and go from there. Remember there are no problems...only oppertunities to excel.

Scope or mounts, buttstock loose on frame.

Scope, mounts all are leupolds all are tight. I checked the stock and it's tight. And I have had the barrel packed in the box that it came in because I have had the muzzleloader barrel on the gun so the crown is fine. So this is why I have been in shock. When I shot it before rifle season the climate change was about 30 degrees different on the cooler side. I called fred at Bullberry and I told him about the climate changed and he said that I shouldn't have seen much difference in the change. And he pretty much told me to check the same things you all told me to check. So I guess its back to the loading bench and the range. Thanks guys

When you say scope, base and rings are all tight I hope you mean you pulled the scope and checked each screw individually for tightness? And tried to move base and it is held securely in place? If so change scopes. Even Leupolds fail at times.

I had a new VVCG barrel and their base that the screws were too long and even tight as they could be there was some movement of the base. Kinda hard to shoot good groups that way.

I just don't think the barrel or load are at fault in your case. UNLESS you have in some way damaged the crown of the barrel. I'd take the base off and clean it all up really good. Then put it back on and tighten each screw down individually with ONLY that screw in place and see if it holds things tightly in place with no shake and little to no movement with finger pressure. If each seems to be fine and not too long then put them back in same holes and tighten all down. Put it all back together.

Before that you might want to try another scope tho.
