Dee, funny you should ask. I've been running to the mailbox every couple of hours today, and my wife was making fun of me. Finally arrived about 20 mins ago, and I am uploading pictures in another tab.

Pics:

Specs:
    * Blade: 3 1/4" (8.3 cm), S30V stainless steel, drop point
    * Length: 4 3/8" (11.1 cm), closed
    * Weight: 4.0 oz (113.4 g)
    * Handle: CNC contoured black G10
    * Clip: Stainless steel, reversible
    * Made in USA; forever warranty

Initial Impression:
Wow! I had read other reviews that it opens like its assisted, and it certainly does out of the box, so I can only imagine how slick it will be in a couple of months. The thumbhole (ala Spyderco) is a good size and shape, but the rear flipper/guard is real handy. Came razor sharp, and the blade is centered in the liners no problem (evidently earlier production required some adjustment to get it centered. Fit and finish of the G10 is real nice, not perfect. The blade is REALLY nice; I don't know if its possible to actually FEEL the difference between good steel and bad, but it has a great balance and feel. Except for federal installations, this will be my daily carry, even with the 3 1/4" blade. Now I think I want the shorter one too, with the 2 3/8" blade. I put my on base EDC knife in the last shot for comparison - the AUS8 feels cheap and flimsy compared to the S30V on the Buck.

Got it on Amazon, free shipping, $60. Found a deal to buy $20 Amazon gift cards for $10, bought 2 (all I could) and used them on this, so for $40 actual out of pocket, this was a beautiful deal. This is the first knife I've had since my first (and only other Buck) 35 years ago that I didn't buy in blister packing at the post exchange, all of whom were made outside of the US. I kinda feel good that this is 100% American, and I think Buck has a new fan.

That is a nice looking knife. I like the size and really like the tip up carry. The G10 looking like wood is very cool. That isn't my fathers Buck knife.

 I recently went through much the same purchase. I ended up with a tip down model :-\ I'm pretty well used to it now but still think tip up makes more sense for me.  For my own selfish peace of mind I am secretly hoping you don't like it ;). I bought very much the same style knife and spent nearly four times your $40. The technical specs are nearly identical, differences being thumb studs instead of a hole and vg10 steel. I have always wanted a special knife and had found a little extra jingle, I still feel a bit guilty.

Wanna trade your new Buck ka-niife  for my old Buck 501?   ;D

Congrats.  I like the shortish blade and less than 5 oz weight.   Belt clip is a nice feature too.

Dee, good lookin' pair! I look forward to matching a snubbie to this buck should I ever move back to a constitutional republic (of which HI does not recognize its own membership).

Couger, the 501 is a nice knife and all, but I believe this 347 is gonna be with me a while! :) I'm seriously considering getting the little brother (342) for the Mrs., same nice but 2 3/8" blade.

I've gone through several phases in what I like in a knife.I liked the big heavy ones when I was young with the thick heavy blades. Now I carry a case trapper and keep it sharp. I use a hatchet or saw for cutting bones. For skinning or general use I like thin sharp blades.
