Last weekend the snow was waist deep on the front deck and out in the yard. This morning it is only knee deep. It's daylite at 6:30, even tho the sun does not come up till 7:30. The sun is going down at 8:30, but it's still lite till after 9:30. The temp during the day is going up into the 40s, and only dropping down into the single didgets a night. Snow is melting fast.
During the day the snow that was pushed off the roads and piled up on the sides melts and runs across the roads. At night it refreezes and makes the roads slick in spots. Sky lost two friends this week from his high school days. In a small town like North Pole you know almost everyone. A young woman was driving a Honda Civic, with her boyfriend in the front seat, and another young man in the back seat. She hit Black Ice in a curve on Badger Road, slid across the yellow line and hit an F-250 head-on. Another one of his friends (a young woman) was driving the truck. Both young people in the front of the Honda was killed instantly. The other two were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. This is the most dangerous time of the year to be driving.
This is beautiful snow machining weather. We have had no perciption since mid Febuary. Nice sunny and bright every day. Have not bothered to put a coat on all week. A vest is all I need to be outside.
My buddy Al has about two tons of Pastry products readying for Bear Baiting season. He has a large storage room full up to the ceiling at his shop. I went to the range yesterday to make sure the .35s and the 45-70s are ready. Looking into getting a Crossbow for this Spring Bear Season, not sure how that will work out.
