One Less Deer Killer....
« on: January 05, 2011, 05:40:48 AM »
This coyote became my first blood of 2011. Killed it on Jan. 1, last day of our deer season. Coyotes are fairly new "immigrants" to these parts and this is only the 2nd one I've killed. I can count the number of them I've seen on both hands but they are becoming more and more of a problem in some areas and have really taken a toll on the deer populations. I've tried a little calling over the years but haven't had any success but now that deer season is out, I'm gonna break out the Johnny Stewart and Quiver Critter and try to knock off a few more while it's still cold. BTW, the Ruger is in 7x57. The pelt on this yote was so nice that I'm getting the hide done.

Well for everyone you see there are alot more, especially if your not hunting them. I ave a friend that has killed 26 since deer gun season went out here. Well that was 26 last Sat. and he hunts every day so I`m sure he has 30 by now.

Great picture.
Now I want a picture of my RSI lying on a dead coyote.
Have you ever hunted with the open sights?
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

No, this is my first season with that rifle and I stuck the B&L 2-8x compact on it as soon as I got it home. I absolutely love the handling qualities of this combo and don't know how I survived so long without it!

My biggest mistake was selling a 243 just like yours! I kick myself everytime I think of it.

OP riminds me when I was in Oriental Nc. in 1984. I mentioned hunting yotes here. The wifes cousin said " there's no coyotes around here" Oh sure there is, yotes are everywhere! She insisted, noone she knows has ever seen a yote around here.  ???
