Camping & hunting in 15 degrees
« on: December 01, 2003, 09:43:15 AM »
I have learned over the years to use the cold weather to our advantage when camping.  We use a large ice cooler and its inside during the day on the cold floor of the trailer but at night its in the back of the car where the ice actually refreezes so everything is really cold the next morning.  I can't leave it outside at night because of the bears that may comeby for a visit and a treat.  At other camps I have been at they even use an old fridge outside to keep things cold too when its below 32 degrees.  I sure don't miss making ice runs.                                       BigBill

Here is a trick for the camp refrigerator.

Our generator ran on propane and kept the refrigerator running on demand.  We would keep a soda bottle half full of water and frozen.  Before leaving for any length of time we would flip it so the ice was up.  If we came back and the ice was on the bottom, then we knew the refrig. was off for a time and that anything in the refrig. was suppect to damage.

This is a good idea for an freezer or refrig.
