Now for one of those older, stupid moments in life.
Went to help coach the little league team this evening at 5:30.
All was going well until about 6:00.
We were doing some basic fly ball drills and I was catching up for the head coach when one of the boys relaid a ball in to me that was an easy catch.
The only problem was I didn't catch it with my glove.
They always say, Keep your eye on the ball, and that is exactly what I did, right up to the moment of impact.
Right in my left eye.
Went down hard with blood going everywhere.
I am on BP meds so I bleed quit easily.
I soaked two standard face towels in a matter of minutes.
By the time I got to my truck it was purple and swelled almost shut.
Punched a hole through the eye lid and cut my brow.
Put a bunch of bandages on it and some tape and went back on the field.
About twenty minutes latter I figured I better head home while I could still see a little out of both eyes.
Made it home fine.
My wife was getting groceries and then was going to pick up the youngest son from his HS baseball practice.
The head coach called her on her cell to see how I was.
I hadn't called her yet and you know how that went.
She got home around 8:00 and we spent the next three hours in the ER getting stitched up.
All is fine with no pain but looks like crap.
It is almost completely black now and about twice as big as it was when I got home.
Hope I will be able to see out of it tomorrow as we are to drive down and pick up the oldest son from college and swing by his girlfriends college and get her on the way back.
Today, Friday the 25th is his 19th birthday.
Really would hate to miss having him home for it.
I tell you, I have been busted up more coaching ball then all the years of rodeo riding, racing, tractor pulling and fighting all put together.
I guess I just ain't a young kid anymore!
Oh well, it's a long ways from my heart to kill me.
