They still sell Huntsman accessoy barrels which come with sights, so they have them in Ilion, you just need to talk to someone that knows that, I suspect the front sight for the Sidekick is the same, part #S03198 sold for $5.10 in 2008, my last parts list.

No, that's part of the barrel assembly. There are a couple methods that would work if you can make one and either attach it with a dovetail or drill and tap, both require machining, or make one and solder it on, I've thought about maybe one from a ¼-20 coupler.  Slowhandd makes a special stud for his 45-70 conversion barrels, maybe he can help.

The old number appears to have been changed to FS03198, you might want to call and confirm that, just in case.  ;)

[NEF Huntsman]

I see you have NEF Huntsman, so that narrows it down to 2 possibilities. What year is your Huntsman? The 2002-2003 Huntsmans used a CHEAP plastic set of sights with fiber optic pipes, and 2004-current were using the Williams Fire-Sights made of an aluminum alloy with fiber optic pipes. The plastic ones use 2 screws for front and 2 for the rear. The Williams Fire sights use one screw for front, and 2 for the rear, but will fit the 2002-2003 barrels with no problem. The second screw hole for the front sight will be under the new sight. I used a filler in one of mine before replacing the front sight, but is not neccessary.

If yours is a 2002-2003, I would recommend replacing the plastic rear sight as well. All it takes is one little bump, or get a little agressive on the screwdriver in cold weather, and it will crack or break.

Now if it is an old 70's era H&R Huntsman, that is a whole different ballgame?

And Big Green calls that CUSTOMER SERVICE! :(

It is the one with the cheap plastic. Thanks Busta for the heads up. Tim, do you have a part # for the metal rear?

The part # is in the FAQ's somewhere, I can't recall it from my fading memory.

The new Williams Fire-Sights look just like this on the Huntsman. Much better sights! This rifle came with the plastic, and they sure didn't last long. Now it looks like this. :)

This is the front of the 2003 Huntsman.

This pic is of the rear of one of my Sidekicks, but looks exactly the same as on the Huntsman. The pic was handy in my folder. ;)

I think Busta is right about the sight being in the FAQs, it rings a bell anyway, seem to remember putting a link to his thread on it, but the retail parts page won't open for some reason, it was made on the old software, and it's not working, I'll have to get Matt to fix it and check on the current part number for the Williams WGOS sight, that's all H&R uses now as far as I know.

Tim,

The link to the Peep and Fire-Sights is not working either. Just comes up a big blank window. :(

None of the old graybeardoutdoors.com links are working, I left a voicemail message on Matt's cell.

It's a Williams WGOS, call and ask, but it may be more expensive, H&R sells the WGRS for $25 shipped, lots cheaper than Williams.

I also broke the fiber optic on the front sight of my Huntsman. It's an older model (a photo of the front sight is posted on the WTB ads, under "Front Sight for Huntsman"). "PHATINJUN" recommended that I pick up the Williams firesight, one that was from a Sidekick, he told me that it would fit the Huntsman. I bought mine off another member. I haven't received it yet.  I know of another member on this board that has a set for sale, if you want, PM me, and I'll give you his name. You can contact him and see if he still has the set.
Good luck.

Funny how things have changed with H&R. Back when they first came out lots of guys broke those plastic sights. All ya had to do was call Gardner and they would send you one free of charge. They new they screwed up. Kurt
