I spent my years in the Army progressing through the utility vehicles of the Jeeps M-38, M-38A1 and into the M-151 Mutt.
My grandson, a current Marine, has of course, only used the heavily armored Humvee, although during his tours in the sandbox he has spent more hours atop (.50 cal mount) than inside, the Humvee.
Naturally there is a small amount of good-natured ribbing between us (never interferes with the love between Gramps & Grandson, however) about the weapons, equipment and armor (his Humvee & my M47&8 Patton tanks) etc. Today's weapons are for the most part, so superior to what we had, it's pitiful.
Now, obviously this M38A1 type Jeep got soundly whipped in the mud...of course, for the difference in price..it shouild be.
My next suggestion for a Jeep/Humvee competition, would be to take both in the woods and drive among trees about 6 ft apart !
