after-market grips for Bisley SB Hunter ?
« on: April 05, 2011, 05:51:19 PM »
Older son wants something other than the factory grips on his SB Bisley Hunter. He loves the Hogue MonoGrip but, we can't seem to find one to fit the Bisley. He ordered a Hogue from Ruger thinking it was for the Bisley - but it absolutely won't fit ( I swiped it and put it on my .41 BH ). Does ANYONE have any idea of where to get either a Hogue or very similar grip for a Bisley ?  He doesn't like the feel of the Pachmayr and isn't too fond of the Mustangs I have on my Smith.

Other suggestions also welcome.

Thanks

I don't think anyone makes a rubber grip for a bisley.  I would suggest looking into a slip-on type grip like a hogue handall or something similar.

Yup, NO rubbers for the Bisley.  As comfortable as that design is, wjho need such an atrocity - rubbers on a nice single action... ::)

I agree...........However , when I do a lot of shooting (maybe 25 rounds or more ) with my Bisley Hunter I will/do wear a shooting glove.  It will absorb a lot of recoil.  Mind you , I usually only wear it when shooting off the bench.  Off-hand I do not notice the recoil , or it doesn't bother me......whichever the case I don't use it.  Only a suggestion...maybe it will help.

regards , irold

Thanks all - answers are complete. Bisley will stay as-is..... unless I make a fitted set of walnut grips that fit just a tad differently. Walnut is from a tree the boy's great-grandfather grew - seems like a good use for a small part of it.
