Range Time with New - Used Marlin 336

Picked up a used Marlin 336 in .30-30 about a month ago.  Finally got to the range.  It is definately a shooter.  It has a Williams receiver sight and I did not need to make any adjustments at all!  That is a blessing.  At 60 yards I got a 3 shot one inch group.  One thing though...on my second shot I heard a light click.  I waited about a minute and pulled the cartridge. There was a tiny dent in the primer.  I put it in and shot - bang - and all is well.  The same is with the next few shots.  I was using 170 gr Rem. CoreLokts.  I am going to the gunsmith tomorrow.  I wonder if it is the spring or the firing pin.  This gun was made in the late 70's or early 80's.  I would hate to have that happen on the deer stand.   :-\

It could be just dirty or gummed up .

or the action wasn't closed. The Lever has to be fully up to disingage the pin lock.

I would start with pulling the bolt and taking it apart and clean real good.
