Guys:

I'm just about to purchase a Pardini SP...I like what I've seen and know guys that shoot this pistol right now.

HOWEVER, before I cut the check, does anyone have any experience with the Hammerli SP-20?  I've never seen one nor do I know of anyone in the area that carrys these pistols (No. Cal).

Your comments and thoughts please...$1200 isn't "chump-change" for me.

A friend of mine used a Pardini to win a national 22 pistol championship a few years back at Camp Perry. He later bought a Hammerli and he shot it for some time and was not able to match scores he had posted with his Pardini - probably was so used to the Pardini. He let me shoot the Pardini but it was in left hand configuration so I did not do so well! Next time I contact him I will ask how he is doing with the Hammerli.

I bought a Pardini SP a few months back and am thrilled with it. Reliable, ballances sweet and has a great trigger. It improved my scores dramaticly. You won't be disapointed.

The Hammerlis will typically function well with any ammo you feed it, whereas the Pardinis typically require the $300 per case stuff.  So if you shoot a lot, the Hammerli may be cheaper to own.  Aguila SV ammo will work well in most Pardinis, but may require a drop of oil to be placed on the top round in the magazine.

I got my Pardini through a local dealer who gets his stock from Nygord. ( ( Nygord is the sole importer I believe.) Anyway, it says Nygord in silver on teh frame. I got the basic Sp without the Nygord package. I like the adjustable palm shelf option on the std and wanted  to choose a finer dot. I put a Leopold Gilmore 2 min dot on it.
A note with the Pardini's . The scope mount groove is very fine and part of the frame. A std set of mounts sometime have to be filed on the bottom to assure a good fit as many factory supplied  mounts have a blunt/rounded edge. My dealer sells mounts that have been touched up on a milling machine but a file did the trick (nicely) in 5 min. ( The gun a nd 3 extra mags broke me!)
As for fuction, I would respectfully disagree with Questor from what I've seen. ( About 1/2 the 60+ guys in my legue shoot the SP). Most function fine with Aguila SV, CCi Green Tag /Std velocity.  No one I know is oilig the mags with the SP. ( A few of the Walther OSP and Binelli shooters do though.)  In fact, the only failures to feed /jams I've had was when the gun was brand new and I was trying to feed it subsonic Aguila. ( A league favorite.) The subsonic fed great in older and broken in guns but mine would not feed every now and then with it.  Since then I feed it Aguila SV exclusively and am very content. ( Aguila is $99/case from Coles distributing.) Interesting enough, with the newer SP's there is little felt recoil difference between teh subsonic and SV. Those spring loaded muzzle weights really work!

Tacoma: Mine will not even chamber green tag, and will not reliably chamber Federal 711B or T22s or CCI Standard velocity.  Aguila SV works fine only if I use the drop of oil. It will chamber SV reliably if the temperature is above 75 degrees or so (I.e., never during our winter indoor season).  Don Nygord includes a sheet with each gun that says European ammo, such  as RWS Target, is required and that virtually all feeding malfunctions with the gun are encountered by people who don't heed this warning.  He has tried to convince Pardini to relax the tolerances on the chamber dimensions to accommodate American ammo, but as of last year, they were unwilling to do it.

Want to THANK YOU for all of the feedback and help...a PARDINI is on the way.

Can't tell you how many websites I visited and how many people I have spoken to in the past couple of weeks.  You guys really helped me out a bunch...and will share in the experience once I get a few rounds through the pistol.  I'm sure that I'm in for a few surpriZes...but it won't be because I got any bum information from this group.

I'm glad I ran across this thread.  I'm been debating over these two for a while now and since I have found little mention of them on any forums, I had kinda passed on the whole idea of a high-end .22.  Now, I'm interested again.    I wasn't aware of the ammo probs however, and now I'm worried 'cause in this area there isn't a real good source for the high-end ammo.  Green Tag and Federal Match is here, but I gotta travel for nything better.  
  I always wanted one of the benelli pistols but as they're no longer imported...Pardin and Hammeli sem my only choices.  Although, what's the word on TOZ?

Hey guys!

Just got home with my new Pardini SP...boy, is it a beauty!  Can't wait to get it to the range this weekend to try it out.  Don't know if I'll shoot any better but at least I'll have fun trying.   :-D

You're right. I'm wrong.  The CCI SVs are good in the Pardini.  Maybe it was just newness that caused problems when I first tried them.  After a few thousand rounds, it works well with ammo from the original box I tried. Thanks for the tip.

My Pardini is still new, but since I've had it, I've run no less than two boxes of Eley, RWS and Wolf through the gun.  I've even run a box of T22's through...ZERO problems!  BUT, the second round of Federal match I tried to fire didn't chamber fully.

I'm sticking with the Wolf for my Pardini...my Rugers (which are now gathering dust) will get the Federals.  Guess no two guns are identical...huh?

REAL HAPPY with my SP so far!
