For the money , probably the Bushnell Trophy, 2-6.  They seem to hold up to recoil , clear lens.  Last week Natchez had the silver , older style , Trophy for $110.  Pretty hard to beat.    I like the Leopold 2X.  Its a little smaller , tough as nails , and made in the USA.

I love my Bushnell Red Dot.  Biggest advantage for me is that it does not require perfect eye alignment.  When I am deer hunting it is often within 100 yards and the deer are amost always moving.  For me a red dot is the best scope for handgun.

I have a 1.5-4x20 Burris on my 35 Rem, really good field of view.

+1
The G2 I recently bought had an open sighted 35 Rem. Super 14 barrel, and a 14" 22 LR Match barrel with a Burris 1.5-4 scope. I moved the Burris to the 35 Rem. and it works very well. It made the Contender my new deer "rifle"!

I got a Midway flier yesterday and they have Bushnell Elite 3200 Pistol 2-6X32 scopes on sale for $209.99 Product # 231-185  If I were you I would be making a phone call to 1-800-243-3220 and ordering one. That is a $90.00 mark down and it has a life time warranty and it is a really good scope.

On the .218 Bee I've got a 2-6 Bushnell Trophy. So far, so good. It works well for longer range shooting.

I'm with Tipiguy. For deer hunting with the .357 Herrett I used a Leupold 2X scope for years. I started playing with red dots and had a 1" Merritt on it but wasn't impressed. I stole the Bushnell Holosight (no longer made) off my slug shotgun and I really like it on the Contender. The Holosight is now on a 22 pistol and it's great there too.
So the short story is that I've found I prefer an open reflex sight on a handgun. It's easier for me to aquire the target and line up a shot than with a glass scope or tube red dot. I'd like to try a red dot with the green reticles, in bright sun the Holosight washes out even at the max brightness setting.

I have a 2X7 32 Burris electro dot on my 12' 357 Max Contender.  Works well so far.
