Low recoil whitetail load for 270 Winchester ?

I am getting where I like recoil less and less,wondering if anyone here has used the managed recoil loads like remington offers on deer ? Other than those managed recoil loads what are the softest kicking loads in this cartridge for whitetail deer out to about 250 yards or so ? Curious about the 100 grain load by Winchester(I think).

My nephew used the Remington Managed Recoil loads in .30-06 on a doe last year.  The ammo worked as described, and the doe is just as dead.  Buy a box and try them out.

I have never really felt the recoil when shooting a deer. I even really don't notice a really loud boom when they go off either when shooting game. The only time that I feel recoil is when shooting non-game like targets. If I was to shoot one of my rifles without ear protection on the target range my ears would ring for a week but when shooting game it does not bother me at all.

Shoot 130 gr bullets in the 270 and you really don't have that much recoil. If you do then your rifle does not fit you or you need to learn a proper hold. I once had a Rem sportsman 78 (poor mans 700) in 30-06. That thing would almost knock you off the bench. I put the action in a Bell and Carlson fiberglass stock and the first time I shot it I thought it was a squib load because the recoil was so much less. Stock fit and material has a lot to do with felt recoil.

As for the managed recoil ammo the Midway book list the Remington as having a 115 gr bullet at 2710 fps. From my calculation if you sighted in 2.5 inches high at 100 yards you would only be about 3 inches low at 250 yards. You could hold in the center of the shoulder on a deer and not worry about shooting over or under it all the way from point blank out to 250 yards. If you put that bullet in the vitals it should kill the deer.

Winchester does not have a managed recoil load as far as I can find. They do list their 130 gr Power-Max Protected HP at a velocity of only 2779 fps instead of the normal 3050 fps of 130 gr bullets in a 270 Win.

Lighter bullets means less recoil.  With the growing popularity of the 6.8 SPC and its limit on usable bullet length, some great, light bullets are out there.  There are Barnes TSX bullets in 85, 95, 100 and 110gn varieties.  Compared to the 150gn loads, recoil should be minimal.  You could load them down in addition if desired.
