I Milled Out Another Ash Bench
« on: March 24, 2011, 08:39:57 AM »
I'm back home now again, after being away for nearly 5 weeks...and the weather has been pretty decent.  We have had some 60* weather, although it's colder again now.  It will be a while yet before we get any amount of really warm weather, but i did manage to get a nice ash log milled,

I milled it into 2" and 3" thick planks, as i'm going to build another HD work bench for my basement,

I edged the flitches right on the mill,

And here's the "tally" for this log,

I enjoyed getting the mill going and sawing out another bench!

Drilling Man,
On the other hand, I went out today and bought a 12' long plank of red oak, 11" wide and 2" thick.  It cost me a hundred bucks!! :o :o :o :o :o
I going to make a cannon carriage for someone.

Well, that's 74 bd. ft., and i would have charged you 74 bucks for the same thing, and considered that to have been a good deal.  So, a hundred isn't really too bad, if it's decent quality, and it looks like it is...

  Good luck on your build!
