And one more for JJ (Hornady GMX)
« on: June 05, 2011, 08:59:29 PM »
Hi

Have you seen the GMX in action yet? I have seen what you said about the Barnes. I think
they should be about the same - but would have liked a confirmation from actual hunts.

Seeing that my rifle likes tham and they are actually not that expensive I think
I might just use them for all my hunting from now on. (I would like to test them on
a blue wildebeest)

Thanks
Van der Walt

(O yes - 165gr out of a 300WM at about 2900fps.)

Yes they work well, that load of 165gr at 2900fps is the exact recipe I have in my 30/06. It has worked with flawless perfection on all Plains game including eland and a few giraffe, although those were head shot so a .223 would have also worked on them! The point is that the 165gr bullets are deadly accurate and a great combination for the .308 diameter. Personally I have so many TSX at 165gr I would not change from what I'm using. The Hornady  version has worked quite well to date
