Maybe a Tikka?
« on: April 02, 2011, 04:06:40 AM »
I wanted a Savage 25 Walking Varminter, but found out the waiting list might be several months and that is too long to wait.  My neighbor bought a Tikka in .223 a few months ago and likes it.  His groups are outstanding.  I'm looking for a coyote/groundhog rifle and now am seriously considering a T-3 Lite in .223.

Is there anything I should look out for?  He gets his tightest groups with 60 gr. bullets and I want to load a lighter bullet.  I wonder if the Tikka rifling twist needs a heavier bullet.  Any info and/or suggestions appreciated.

I bought a tikka T3 lite in 223 and have been very pleased the one I bought has a 8 twist but Tikka sells a seond version with 12 twist.  If you want to use light varmint bullets try getting the one with 12 twist.  Ask your dealer to inquire.  you will not be disapointed.

Regardless of which rifle you get, you'll just have to try different weights and styles of bullets.Only your rifle can tell you which it's going to "like"and which bullets it "dislikes".You can buy two identical
rifles and each will have its own preferances.
