The old Weaver V-8 c/w ext. adj.
« on: March 24, 2011, 02:48:05 PM »
Does anyone have experience with this old scope, I think 2.5-8X in a 1" tube?  It looks mostly like a modern belled scope, but the elev/windage adjustments were in the rear mount.

I have one.  Kind of interesting. Some came with a three line reticle. I was never sure of what that was for.  Adjustments are not consistent as it makes a difference how far apart the mounts are on any individual gun.  I wouldn't put one a big boomer as it is primarily held on by the front mount.

I got one on my Model 157 Hornet H&R. great nastolgic look very nice old glass mine is one of the triple plex reticals basically it was a ballistic plex way before it's time. The weaver V8 is one of the more collectible scopes with the triple plex. Mine is perfect except I wish the bluing was a little deeper. Kurt

Kurt, do find parallax an issue with yours at 50yd? If so, at about what distance does it not become apparent?

I currently have two on a Savage 110 in 7mm mag and a whby 300. one has a fine crosshair and the other a tiny dot. never had issues with recoil or scope movement with either one. may have to check e-bay, I'd like to pickup a couple more if the price is right.
Deceased due to a 3rd stroke on Dec. 12, 2011.

RIP John.

Oh, and what kind of distance is that rear adj. mount good out to? (given typical unshimmed scope rail mounted right on)
