They are just like bolt actions.  Sometimes you get a shooter, sometimes you don't.  However, with good handloads tuned to the rifle shooting quality bullets, you shouldn't have a problem getting under 1moa, as long as the barrel is free floating.  All of my ar's will shoot sub moa with handloads and a couple of factory loadings.

It depends on who built your gun , age of your gun, quality of parts and ammo to name but a few factors. Unlike a bolt gun most parts can be changed relatively easy to enhance shooting and group size.

Assuming its a Colt - Mine will do about and inch, a little less sometimes, at 100 yards.  Not sure if twist rate varied over the model years, but if it is a slower twist, stick to about 60 grain bullets or less for best accuracy.  The heavy weights do best out of fast (1-9 / 1-7) barrels.

Colt swithed around depending on when it was made. Just mark a cleaning rod and check.

Some were 1 in 11 or 12 back in the 80's . They tend to reflect what the rate of the ones being built for the military have it would seem
