Jacketed bullets, will, over time, contribute to smoothing a rough bore, but the effects from a couple hundred might not be much. Depends on the individual gun, and how rough the bore is. Try running a dry patch smoothly down the barrel. Sometimes you can feel it catching on rough parts, or feel restriction, usually in the area where the barrel screws into the frame.
The best way to find out is to just shoot the gun with lead bullets that are about .001 / .002 over bore size. If they lead badly, you could try a gas check bullet, or the gun may be a candidate for lapping with a series of lead bullets embedded with a fine abrasive, and fired at moderate velocities (There are several kits on the market for this). Most all revolvers can be made to shoot well with cast bullets, some easier then others.
