An interesting document of the British Royal Navy - Boy's Manual Of Seamanship And Gunnery.
There's much useful information contained here for those interested in naval history; scroll down to "Gunnery Training" for artillery instruction. Click on 'Menu' to the left to open more Royal Navy topics.

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

A "New York Times" article from May 22, 1893 that compared the American method for preparing cadets to become naval officers, with the time honored British tradition of that era.
