38-55 Target
« on: April 11, 2011, 01:06:06 PM »
Well everyone was right.  My 38-55 wouldn't eject or extract Winchester fired brass.  I thought about a lot of the suggestions in the FAQ's and decided to ream it out to.400.  I e-mailed 4D reamers and Fred answered very quick.  Gave me instructions on how to do it right then.  I ordered the reamer on Wednesday and I had the reamer on Friday.  Great customer service.
The chamber cleaned up great, smoother than the factory.   Today I went to the range to test everything out.  The cases ejected great and I shot about one and a half inch groups at 50 yards.  I was using the Oregan Trail 240 grain lead bullet and XMR 5744 powder.  The only bad about this site and Handi's is they are addicting.  I stopped at the local gunshop on the way home and just glancing around I spotted what looked like a short Buffalo Classic.  Well it was a Classic Carbine in 45 Colt.  I ended up with the carbine for 270.00 out the door.  All in all it was a good day.   Mike
