Standard U.S. Military issue Holster

what is the Standard U.S. Military issue Holster? I have seen on the news and else where solider using all kinds of holsters from the thigh holsters like the Black hawk SERPA or the M12 to the US tanker  shoulder holster. Someone told me you buy your own holsters

the M12 is the standard pistol holster for issue with the m9. However, there are several NSN's for shoulder or drop leg holsters that are procured through commercial channels. Those who are issued the M9 have the option (in most units) to wear the holster of their choosing as long as the barrel is pointed straight down when holstered. Hope this helps.
