Redesign of barrel release latch
« on: April 16, 2011, 07:38:30 PM »
What would everyone think if the barrel latch was redesigned similar to that of a Thompson Center?  Do you think the handi system is better than the TC or not?

They would probably not change the release design. It is one of the few things people DON'T  complain about ;)

Why would one want to change? I have no problems with the H & R latch system other than it's ugly. The T/C  is the pitts in my lowly opinion. Yes we have both. Final thought; If it ain't broke....G66

I would applaud the change! No more clearance issues with shortened hammers...This could be the start of more beneficial changes that the factory could consider. The hammers are shorter on every other single-shot rifle I have seen, H&R needs to take note.... ;)

Thanks, Dinny

Just for clarification, I'm not wanting to convert the latch mechanism.  I just wanted to know what people thought the benefits were about each, and if anyone thought it may make the gun look more appealing?
