30-06 tikka - what a blast
« on: May 27, 2011, 12:27:02 PM »
I recently bought a 30-06 hunter model( wood stock) .  Still working up loads.  Everything seems to shoot well and I have been able to develop good loads with a variety of powders and bullets.  Had some 180 Gr hdy spitzers and decided to give them a go with H4831.  Started at 55, then 57 then 59 gr.  it shot good, then really good then a bug hole group with the top load.   Best shooting 30-06 I have ever worked with.  I might just load the 180s for any application and go hunting.  I will certainly have enough gun and bullet for any big game that might walk by.

That's why these rifles are so problematic. They're boringly accurate with a variety of loads. Then you start expecting that from your other rifles.
