Ultra Comp barrel length

This is the factory box end that my .270 Ultra Comp came in and the indicated barrel length of 23". The barrel physically measures 24" overall with the Compensator attached and 22" without.



Is there any rhyme or reason as to why the difference in lengths?

The actual rifled barrel length is 22" including the threaded part.

That's the rare factory mis-marked box suitable for collectors. Now you have to care for it with white gloves and keep it pristine.

Trouble is, other sources also indicate the barrel length as 23" w/Compensator:

Ultra Model Comp.   
 .270 Win. or .30-06 cal., features 23 in. barrel with integral compensator, blue finish, multi-color checkered laminate wood stock and forearm. Approx. 7-8 lbs. Mfg. 1997-2003.

They said my 22 mag UV was a 'bull barrel' too, it's not, really a heavy, tapered barrel. I kept it anyway (had the choice to refuse it at pickup) and it has stayed while 3 Hornets and another 22 mag have gone.
I am getting tired of taking care of that box though.........

its funny you say that about the box being a collector, i have a corgi car still in the box and the box alone brings more than the car. The chinese are making counterfeit boxes for some of the old toys. The criminal mind i tell ya.
