just made a trade for a dozen of these with vanes im going to strip the vanes put a wrap on and feather fletch them up hope they work for the gem longbow

i guess the pics did not work but they are bear 30in. bop 50/60 high grade ceder arrows
nos in box never shot with vanes and target points 2 boxes  6 in each. ;D ;D
hope they shoot straight from the gem longbow after i feather fletch them.
im buying  a grayling lw fletching jig with 2 50 packs 4in. parabolic feathers extra nock plate and a tube of fletch tite glue tomorrow from fleabay. i got it set up yesterday with the guy . i just have to wait for the deposited money to show up to use the paypal. i think im done with the buying of stuff for now and should be set to shoot soon. oh i need a glove and a new string and then i should be good to go well maybe  ;D ??? ::) ;).

hey guys ive been thinking on how to remove the vanes with out damaging the shafts any of you got a trick or two that you would share with me . i thought about just putting a wrap on them after i stripped the vanes.  but im thinking theres got to be a way to remove them with out messing up the fletch area on the shaft help. man the rivers calling me soon very soon.

A Zip-Strip® or similar tool will take them off.  I hope the shafts aren't too brittle.

what is a zip strip swamp. i looked and came up with paint remover. i would like to keep the finish intact and refletch. did i look up the wrong thing as you put tool in the post. i have some late 60's earlie 70's bear arrows they are fine. guess ill bend them back n forth to see if they are to brittle. im thinking im going to end up having to put a vinyl wrap on them after i mess the area up trying to get the vanes off. im going to try a hair dryer and see if i can pull the vane and glue off but think it might pull finish and mabe some wood off. another guy sugested a potato pealer might work another said use a dull knife go slow someone else said a sharp one. some other guy said a 3 rivers feather stripper. i looked it up for all shafts but wood. i dont know ill have to try all kind of stuff till i figure it out i guess.

well the arrows showed up today first look wow sweet arrows then a closer out of box look not so sweet arrows. the finish is pealing or cracking a bit. i seen one crack that was lifted from the arrow i pulled it thinking it was just the paint but it pulled a splinter off of the wood. now i thought no big deal then a guy from another forum told me they might break while shooting. so i flexed them real good to see if they were going to break and they seem fine. so i pealed the vanes off one and hit it with a scotchbright pad put a coat of polywipe on it. so far its been about a hour and the old finish is not melting or blistering i think ill be ok with the polywipe over original finish. im going to put a 7 inch wrap on it and put feathers on and see what happens. think ill shoot it out of the 35#er before i try one out of the bearcat or the gem that should be on the way this week i hope.
i hope these are fine to shoot but if there not oh well worth a try

well i think ill be ok as far as the finish holding up under the poly. these are 1980 or up ? .
i thought they were from 66 because of a bear club fair chase offer said 1967 up to and including current season . i missed the 1980 copyright.  wonder how old they really are. this was a bad day
for making arrows cause the tips are a bit croked. i took the messed up tips off glue only on one side. some of the nocks are the same way like the guy who made then did not twist the glue at all just pushed them on and chucked them in the pile. after really looking them over i think all in all they will be fine for stumping with a bit of work. it will give me something to do. i think im going to try some citrus stripper on a few and start over.  not sure what im doing with them yet ill figure it out next week. time to pack the turkey gear up make sure i got everything for the hollar.
