Unfortunately a 19 year old was apparently killed deer hunting 1-13-11 in Casey County. The news article said he died in a gun accident from a 22 caliber rifle. I am a little confused as I thought gun season was over. I am assuming it was a high power 22 caliber rifle. Was a special deer season added for firearms recently in that area?

Youth hunt but 19 is too old for that.

I e-mailed kydfw and they replied there was no special session called. They also said no further comments could be made due to ongoing investigation. It is hard to speculate until all the facts are known.

No firearm season open... Like you said shouldn't speculate, but I will say I live in aneighboring county and have "neighbors" who rifle hunt all year long. I'm sure they're not the only ones around. Calling the GW does no good.
