Tired of the "Royal Wedding"?
« on: April 26, 2011, 06:35:49 PM »
Is everyone out there as tired of the hoopla associated with the "Royal Wedding" as I am?  With all of the coverage on all of the news organizations, you'd think that the second coming of Christ is to happen early Friday morning (in the American Colonies).  Didn't we fight a couple of wars with these folks so we wouldn't have to acknowledge "royalty"?  My wife already has the DVR programmed to record it so she can watch it on Friday.  I guess I'll be down at the reloading bench while she enjoys the festivities.  I just walk away shaking my head.
Thanks for the stump

I'm not tired of it because I've generally ignored it, but my impression is that it is just another celebrity event, and it does not seem to be royal in any sense.

I noticed that Obama and Tony Blair were not invited.  However, Margaret Thacher was invited.  Shows how conservative the royal family is.

Obama has repeatedly insulted the English, most memorably and insultingly for making a great issue of returning a bust of Winston Churchill (i.e., a real statesman and hero) that had been given to the US as a gift. That one act summarizes what Obama is all about.

Royalty disgusts me. My wife and daughter are wanting to watch it but I will not. No surprise that they didn't invite BO,they didn't invite the presidents of Haiti or Uganda or any other third world leaders either.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

I just wonder how many children could be fed and how many homeless could be housed with the money that is being spent on this affair?  I think that is what really disgusts me, especially in a world where the majority of the people live in poverty.  Perhaps, if I were president, I, too, would treat the British with little respect.  Any nation who still condones 'Royalty" and kowtows to them deserves little respect.  I recall my old Texas history teacher telling a story of Moses Austin and his son Stephen visiting Emperor Maximillian in Mexico.  They were told to kneel before the Emperor and Moses supposedly said, " I kneel to none but God".  This so impressed Maximillian that he became friends with the Austins.  Now, whether my old teacher made up the story or not, that's how free men should treat royalty.

As long as the Brit taxpayers foot the bills I don't care if they celebrate a full month.

Let's see how long that match lasts.
