Ordered the wrong barrel
« on: December 01, 2003, 08:29:40 AM »
Had a barrel ordered from Fox Ridge and asked for it to be in a Contender.  When the barrel got here 8 weeks later, it was setup for an Encore.  Don't know if it was the "orderer's" fault or Fox Ridge.  Calling Fox Ridge now to see what they say, but was wondering if anyone else had a suggestion or can predict what will happen.  As it is, the barrel is 16.25", stainless, heavy barrel (slight taper), in 300 Whisper.

I have a suggestion and I'm not making light of your situation.  Buuttt....

What an opportunity!  Man, if that only had happened to me I would have told my wife it was a sign I had to buy an Encore frame.  After all, a used frame is most likely cheaper than the barrel and what good is the barrel unless you get the frame to go with it!

Seriously, I hope they make it good for you.

Last time I ordered one they sent me an order confirmation and I had to call them or send it back before they would build the barrel.  I would say as long it showed what you wanted and not what you got you will be okay.  If that shows Encore then who knows, they will probably still take care of ya.

So, do I hear you've got a barrel for trade?

So, does this mean you've got an Encore barrel for trading?  What Contender barrels would you be interested in?  I don't have a Contender / 300 Whisper either.

yeah, what bullseye said. but no need to send that barrel back. heck i'm already interested. no telling how many more are.  if the customshop made you the wrong barrel, it'll take just as long for them to make the right one. so why not spend this time trying to sell or trade the one you got?

Fox Ridge was very helpful once we found someone who knew what was going on.  Sent the Encore barrel back and they are "supposed to" send a Contender barrel.  They should pass in the mail and be here by Christmas.

300 Whisper-----Turkeys???
« Reply #11 on: December 30, 2003, 10:18:35 AM »
I have read alot about sub-sonic paper patched rifle rounds for turkeys.  This 300 Whisper sounds like it would be great for Rio Grande Turkeys on my lease near Eden on the north rim of the Edwards Plateau.  Has anyone used this caliber for turkeys?
