They need to stockpile projectiles on deck say from the size of 8 lb shotputs up to bowling balls. Gravity could do most of the work. Charge by the bucket or barrel. (Pop up rail covers of 1/4 deck plate etc.)

They should offer Safari Cruises and pay bounties on any successful hunts, with proof of course.

Several years ago readers digest had a story of an attack and the guy brought his mossy in spite  of the objections of his guests. They were attacked and he shot one just as he boarded the boat and another in the face and emptied it into the pirates boat. The guy said he'd never forget the look on the guys faces as he pulled the trigger. The scum left them alone. Force is the only way to deal with these godless scum. POWDERMAN.

The cruise line could discreetly offer skeet shooting, and keep some 00 buck handy. I like bowling balls too, and maybe a holding tank full of piranha to dump after the bad guys are in the water.

 There were security people aboard, but where were they and what if any arms did they have??
What about the crew?
 Did they ever show up to help?
 
Last but not least why would I as an unarmed civilian choose to travel through those waters on an unprotected vessel.

You can agree with me, but that pirates shouldn't be resisted in not my position. My method for dealing with pirates would be to mount some M2 .50s on bow, quarterdeck, and fantail.

But instead of dismissing them as godless scum, it is better to understand the why and the how.

Why would the rest of the world allow them to run rampant over us. Cruise lines arn't fishing out waters. Ahoy ye land lubbers! Somalia has been a haven for pirates since the early  days of tall ships. Arrr that was long afore we had any nuclear waste to go  scatterin around the 7 seas or the means to over fish them. I'm not tellin ye that the traditional Somali fishing ground have not been polluted or other wise molested because they have.
But this be nothing more than a than a lame excuse for the actions of these scurvy dogs. Even when the fishin was good a Somali fishermen wouldn't pass up nary an chance to do a bit of piracy on the side. You see piracy pays a might better than fish. and who among us don't want a bit more coin.
Until the last few years these scallywags were content with small pickins and we hardly ever hear'd a peep about their thievin  ways.
But then these heathens of the high seas began to take on larger vessels that belong to them  that had deep pockets and acquaintances in high places.  Aye twas then we began to hear the squawks and squeals that becried the evil deeds of these Godless scallywags.

They had "rather" shoot you than look at you. They will also cut your throat reguardless of your color or liberal or conservative beliefs or if you are religious or non religious if you don't believe in the "islamic/muslim" teachings. If you arn't with them they have no leway for you, they want you dead. They teach this.

 Somalia's chief religion is Sunni Muslem according to the 2011 World Almanac. Not enough other religions to even be mentioned.
