prayer for tornado victims
« on: April 27, 2011, 03:29:12 PM »
I know this is not the right spot but mostly hang out here. My hometown of Smithville Ms which is about 30 miles from where I live now was leveled by a tornado this afternoon. A lot of people missing and a high death count I've heard but not confirmed. Have seen some pictures of it and it is terrible. A very small town with a population of around a thousand. My family there is all ok but have friends I haven't heard from yet. Can't get in only emergency workers allowed in.  Everything is gone or heavily damaged.

I just talked to Matt, the area got hit pretty hard, he took Heather and the kids out of the area before they got hit, power and cell service is down in the area, no word from Bill yet, he's headed over there to check now.  :-\

On a good note, Graybeard and Mrs Graybeard are fine, the twister hit part of their property, but not their home, thank God. They won't likely have power for a couple days and internet service for a couple weeks or more. Matt's home, which is on Graybeard's property did have some damage from an earlier storm before Matt and family left the area.

my prayers go out to all those affected by the tornado and severe thunderstorms across the south and mid south areas of the US. Who is going to send financial help to these areas from third world sources? I would not hold my breath! The US has always responded to other calls for help. Lets see some one else give aid to us!! >:(

Glad to hear the folks at the Graybeard complex are OK ;)

From what I've seen on the news it looks like a terrible mess :(

As I get older I have been more fearful of Tornados and Lightning.

A couple people have been struck by lightning here lately, Now I go inside when it starts. Prayers to the folks dealing with this tragedy.

Well my power just come on this afternoon at about 1400.  It's been off since Thursday night.  My family is all well, and the inconvenience is not an issue compared to what others are going through.  People I know personally have lost property and one has died.

Thanks for everyone's concerns and prayers.

I live north of Smithville, Ms near the AL and Tn state lines, please pray for for those people in that part of MS, the town of Smithville and Monroe county is all but gone, that tornado went south of me into AL., the nexts ones went east and north of me, all we had was trees and power lines down, I keep my basement stocked with all the supplies food, water, beds, matts, back-up power lights etc., I called all my family and neighbors we went into the basement Tuesday night and stayed untill Wed afternoon, the storms were very bad, now we have flooding, over 10" of rain in past week.
