... Exactly 2 men who saw the wedding thought this chick wasn't smokin' hot... That would be these two...

come now, give credit where due; Powderman & Cabin apparently feel the same way.

Ah but Cabin was talking about the bride!  Duk and I are talking about the Maid of Honor; Piper!  An that pic wasn't even her good side... uh, end... um...  :-\  well...  :-[  nevermind...  :-X

HEH. I too was talking about the bride, not the maid of honor. Not sure the price tag for this wedding but the sum of $140 million has been floated around. That would feed a lot of folks. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D

Maybe the Brits like their heritage and their monarchy like several other European countries do as well.

Who cares what the Brits do. The Royalty is all tradition. Lets them have it. It is their tradition to have and pay for.

Yep, other than paying for the lions share in ALL conflicts, I don't recall any foreign aid to England. We as usual, are furnishing the hardware in Libya right now, so England and France won't run out of gasoline, so the point is not completely lost. While we blow up Libya and spend millions, England has a big wedding with the country paying.

The universe does not rotate around this solar system and the earth extends beyond Dogpatch USA  ;)   A lot of folks have different priorities. None of these European Monarchies are absolute so if enough citizens wish to abolish them they be gone.

Should be utterly meaningless to us. If we were not out fighting stupid foreign wars, we would not be concerned with our other countries are not putting in their fair share of support to said foreign wars. We would then care less how they waste their money on stupid royal weddings. No stupid foreign wars and no foreign aid. All this BS goes away.

It is a not an uncommon for Americans to think only about their own patch of turf and are not even slightly interested in what goes on in the rest of the world. That is what I should have written. My apology to any Dogpatch/Metropolis residents that think beyond their neighborhood.

I think the US would love to go back to a time when we did not have to police the rest of the world. When everyone came to us for money, support or to have someone to blame for their problems.
When Nevil Chamberlain screwed up managing Hitler and the Treaty ending the first world war and we got brought into the war by sending aid to England so you would not be speaking German instead of a Germanic language we call English.
I don't mean to belittle you or the British Empire.  But those same US troops that are burried all over the world are not there for wars of conquest like British troops, but to preserve freedom for the countries where they are burried.  i can tell you that those same soldiers would have loved to have stayed in dogpatch or metropolis married their high school sweetheart and been burried in dogpatch with their grandkids at the grave side.
I understand the England is one of our greatest allies, with Australia leading the bunch and we were once an English Colony, at our founding, since then we have annexed or purchased parts of the Spnainsh empire, French Empire, and Russian Empire.
Oh and Parts of Mexico, but I think they were still part of one of the European empires in 1848 (not sure of the time line if they were French, Austrian, or Spanish at the time.
As far as the royals go, You were one of the few countries that did not line them up and pose them for rifle fire or behead them when there was a power shift. I know they are a novelty and are famous because of who their grand parents are or were.  Kind of like how some here view the idiots that JFK and RFK produced.  Some one in the Press makes a big ta do about them expanding the clan by tieing the knot.

Americans don't care. England sure had no problem with "Yanks" when old Adolf was dropping bombs on the Island Empire. The Brits begged for any kind of firearms from America. The U.S. citizens mostly from Dog Patch shipped their Wichesters and Remington hunting rifles to England. Didn't care after the war a self centered England dumbed tons of Dog Patch rifles into the ocean. No returns, no thanks.  :(

Powderman, they passed these draconian gun laws to protect their monarks after their Russian cousins bought the farm. With all of our problems, I thank our long suffering british ancestors for their long boat ride. :)

As I have already said. I find it truly amazing that with riots in the streets of England over their tanking economy, that everyone can simply ignore this issue, and spend millions of dollars that they don't have, to lavish on a couple of folks getting married after having been shacked up for over two years, simply because the so called "prince" was sired from the lineage of a rather homely so called "queen". They may be considered royal over there, but to me, they are immoral, and should have simply, and very quietly built a larger stall.
It is beyond me, why this so called "prince" would want to purchase the cow, when the milk was already being delivered without cost.
I find more value in a well bred "bird dog" than a family of humans that consider themselves to be better than others, and don't want to be physically touched, least the "unwashed" soil them. Someone mentioned the Kennedy's, and I agree. Daddy was a hoodlum bootlegger, John Fitzgerald, and Robert were alley cats with the women, and Teddy was a murdering, drunk of a coward. Good riddance to all of them.
I will take the "dog patch" variety of humans anytime. They are "real" folks educated or not. I have much college, and am not against it, but I have met many that have more, and consider themselves more intelligent, when in fact, they have actually been educated "beyond their own intelligence level" and are too dumb to realize it.
When you are so damn stupid that you will spend your last dollar on a parade, for someone else, you deserve to go hungry.
You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas. Davy Crockett

A distinctly uncharitable and un-Christian thing to say, that.
