Ruger M77 National Elk Foundation Rifle in .280
« on: March 24, 2011, 10:16:13 AM »
Just aquired this rifle. Has never been shot and the guy needed the cash. Will try to post a picture later. He got it through the Safari Club at a raffle. I will not say what I bought it for, I'll just say that If I had a license to steal, it should have been illegal. The .280 is a most often over looked round.

I too am a big 280 fan. Ive had at least one for as long as ive been buying rifles. Present one is a winchester featherweight. Ive had a couple model 77 rugers and a 700 mountain rifle too.

Love the .280! I have had one for 17 years as well, and it just gets the job doen every time!  Another one of my favorites is the 7mm08.  Can't go wrong with either.

Many years ago I had a P.O. Akley barreled .280. I used it to slam Rams and other steel critters way out there. A great caliber.  Remington tried to bring it back in the 1970s as the 7MM Express in the 700 actions. Too bad, they should have called it a Magnum. ;D  After all a hand loader can approach the 7MM Rem Mag. with out that damn belt. ;)
