Really wanting to shoot
« on: May 10, 2011, 04:05:15 AM »
Man, it seems like I am never going to get to shoot the H&R .223 I bought in January.  The closest range, has been closed for renovations, a week before it was to reopen, it got leveled by a tornado.   :'(  I have been trying to get a key to go and shoot on the property my son shot his doe at last year and put some salt blocks out, but now the cousin's wife is in ICU due to kidney failure.  I have one day off in May, and then I am TDY for 3 months.  Oh well, I get back about 3 weeks before archery season opens so hopefully the range will be open at that time.

Darn!  And I thought I had it bad with the range 5 miles away!  The hardest thing for me is to get away from the wife for an extended shooting session.  Seems I can never just go and shoot for the enjoyment of it, I alway have a project I have to work on or sight in.  Right now I need to get back there with a file and an old Hy Hunter .22 pistol that lost a front sight.  I replaced the front sight, now I have to file it for elevation and cut the little 'V' rear to a square cut for my old eyes.  Hope you get to enjoy that .223, I absolutely love my Handi .223.  44 Man

Bring it up and step out the back door and shoot.  There's three reasons I own this place.  The first is being able to shoot any time I want, and the second is our deer herd, and the third is beiing able to run my dogs.  I can hunt my own 120 acres and perhaps 1000 acres of adjoining private land.

HFan,

TDY for 90 days?  Overseas for Uncle Sam?  Hopefully folks will have time to put out salt & minerals while you are gone.  Sounds like with all your time spent working you should be rewarded with a nice 8 pt., opening morning of bow.
